The Troy Exchange Club will host its annual One Nation Under God Breakfast at 7 a.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Troy. Everyone is invited to come and join in prayer for the United States and for peace in the world, said Donna McLaney, club president.
“Our guest speaker for our One Nation Under God Breakfast will be Bobby Templin, pastor of Collegedale Church of Christ in Troy,” McLaney said. “The name for our annual prayer breakfast, ‘One Nation Under God’ is taken from the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. The purpose of the breakfast is to encourage more frequent use of the Pledge of Allegiance and to bring greater understanding to the meaning of the Pledge.”
McLaney said the Troy Exchange Club is dedicated to the country and to the local community it serves.
“The Exchange Club has four pillars of commitment,” she said. “Americanism, Youth, Community Service and the Prevention of Child Abuse.
“The Exchange Club was started by businessmen in 1913 and is the oldest service organization in the country,” McLaney said. “The Troy Exchange Club is 41 years old. We have the distinction of starting the first collegiate Exchange Club at Troy University and also one of the first high school and junior high school clubs at Pike Liberal Arts.”
Membership into the Troy Exchange Club is open and new members are always welcome.
The club meets at noon on Thursdays at the American Legion Building on East Walnut Street in Troy. Visitors are welcome.
