An 11-year-old girl reported missing late Thursday was found early today about a half mile from her home.

“We found her this morning, walking, about half a mile from her residence and about five miles north of Troy,” said Chief Randall Barr.

Police do not suspect any foul play, he said.

Parents notified police that Abigail Long had gone missing from their home around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Officers search for about 12 hours, with assistance from state Department of Corrections tracking dogs and Pike County Sheriff’s Department deputies.

The search effort was expanding this morning, as both Dale County and the state agencies were sending helicopters to help search for the missing girl when she was located. “We appreciate the help of these other agencies,” Barr said.
