Annette Folmar “Lummie” Colley

Mrs. Annette Folmar “Lummie” Colley of Troy passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 in her home. She was 97. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Troy with Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from1:00 pm until service time. She is survived by 3 daughters & sons-in-law: Helen Johnston (Larry), Carla Telfair (Ed), all of Troy; Leah and the late Mike Welty, Fairmont, WV; one son: Dr. Jere Colley (Judy), Opelika; daughter-in-law, Mrs. James O. (Patsy) Colley, Troy; 12 grandchildren: Dr. Lawrence Johnston, Troy; James Emory “Sam” Johnston, Montgomery; William Johnston, Troy; Tricia Colley, Dothan; Helen Catherine Colley, Winston Salem N.C.; Annette Leah Telfair Dickens, Dothan; Edward H. “Ted” Telfair III, Troy; Jere Folmar Colley, Jr., Casey Ray Colley Stewart and Tipi Colley Miller all of Opelika; Annette Welty Neuman, Atlanta; and Michele Leah Welty, Fairmont, W.V; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Oscar “Tip” Colley, Jr. a son, Dr. James Oscar “Jim” Colley III, grandchildren, Anise Colley Johnston, Colley Telfair and Evie Miller, a sister Mary Folmar Colley and her parents. Lummie was born in Troy and told the story that she had only changed bedrooms once from College St. (where she was born) to Hillcrest St. Her parents were Helen and Emory Folmar. Her home was next door to the First Baptist Church, she served in many areas at the church. Her love was being the director of G.A’s, she felt strongly about teaching the girls to love and serve the Lord. She was active in the Troy Charity League, the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home Board where she served as president. She was elected Woman of the Year and Pike County Medical Auxiliary. Lummie was an outdoor enthusiast, loving to hunt, fish, ride horses and activity that involved being with her beloved husband Tip. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Lawrence Johnston, James Emory “Sam” Johnston, William Johnston, Edward H. “Ted” Telfair III, Jere Folmar Colley, Jr, Adam Johnston Colley, Jake Johnston, Zachary Johnston, Trip Colley, Chase Dickens and Walt Johnston.
