Kristin Rebecca Ricks, age 30, of Troy, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. A celebration of her life will be Friday, October 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Reverends Matt Simmons, Major Lane, and Andrew Knick officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson Memorial Cemetery with Chase Cobb, Andrew Folmar, Matt Qualls, Butch Case, Tyler Elmore, Ethan Thierfelder, and Will Pouncey serving as pallbearers with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. The Goshen Junior Varsity Cheerleaders and the Iota Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, October 22, 2015, from 4 – 6 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Kristin was a 2009 graduate of Troy University and an active member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. She was employed as the art teacher at Goshen High School, and she also served as the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Sponsor, Assistant Softball Coach, and Sophomore Class Advisor. Even as a young soul, she had already made an imprint on her community, her family and her friends. She is remembered as a one-of-a-kind, a comedian, a woman of the Lord, an artist, a lover of music, a photographer, and “Kricks,” a best friend. She embodied the spirit of life and knew how to make the most out of living.

Kristin is survived by her parents Greg (Lené) Ricks of Troy and Helen (Michael) Shirey of Troy; brother, Judson (Robin) Ricks of Millbrook; grandparents, Boyd and Pat Drinkard of Palmyra, Marie Stanford of Midland City, and Paul and Sandra Ricks of Decatur; boyfriend, Seth Thierfelder; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
