The Boys and Girls Club for Pike and Surrounding Counties is holding a luau-themed event and silent auction tonight to raise funds for the program.

“All proceeds will stay here at the Boys and Girls Club of Pike and Surrounding Counties,” said Wayne Buchanan, director of the Boys and Girls Club. “This, along with our other fundraising events helps us to fulfill our mission of helping young people.”

The event will kick off with a silent auction, allowing guests to bid on various items such as gift baskets, metal art that is unique to Pike County and even a deer blind.

“We have the deer blind because it’s about to be hunting season,” Buchanan said. “Anyone with the highest bid will receive it.”

The silent auction will last approximately 30 minutes, and the official program will follow.

The Boys and Girls Club has partnered with the Troy University gospel choir, who will open the program. Club members will perform, as well.

“This is a way for us to introduce our members to the community and to show their talents, as well,” Buchanan said.

Following the entertainment, Dana Wilson will be the guest speaker.

All guests will be able to enjoy catering provided by Santa Fe.

“Guests will be served a hamburger with all the trimmings,” Buchanan said. “Boys and Girls Club members will be served steak tips.”

Tickets are available at the door for $25. Tables can be sponsored for $175. Each table seats eight guests.

The Boys and Girls Club silent auction begins tonight at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Troy Parks and Recreation Center.

“This is an important event because it allows us to provide services and programs to serve children and youth through the Boys and Girls Club,” Buchanan said.
