Although the Troy Pilot Club’s Cow Patty Plop is not until Halloween, club members have opened the ticket sales because they have “lots” to sell. Actually, five hundred lots to sale.

Tickets for the Cow Patty Plop are $10 each and the winner will be the ticket holder of the square where the cow plops down.

“The winner will receive $750 and the ticket holder who has the square the greatest distance from where the plop occurs will get $250,” said Angel Phelps. “And, the all of the money raised through the Cow Patty Plop will benefit the children of Pike County.”

This year’s event will be the second Cow Patty Plop sponsored by the Troy Pilot Club.

“Last year’s ‘plop’ was successful as a fundraiser and it was also a fun event,” Tillery said.

Waiting for a patty to plop might seem to be about as much fun as watching the grass grow but it’s not what it seems.

“The Troy Recreation Department draws off the squares on a grid inside a fenced area,” Phelps. said. “Then we bring in the cow and wait. But, while we are waiting, the children have a lot of fun playing on the Miracle League Playground and the adults just enjoy the fellowship of an event like this.

“The Cow Patty Plop is on Halloween this year and we’ll encourage the children to dress in their costumes and we’ll probably have the cow dressed, too.”

Last year’s cow patty plopped in about an hour and Phelps said there is a two-hour limit to the event.

“If after two hours, we haven’t had a plop, then a time will be set and, when that time is clocked, the square where the cow’s right rear hoof is standing will be the winner,” Phelps said.

“We’ll have two judges and they will agree on the winner.”

The funds raised with the Cow Patty Plop will support the Troy Pilot Club’s community service projects, which include its Brain Minders program, puppet show and support of the Miracle League and Playground.
