Mr. Willie Roy Merritt of Pike County, AL passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 in Pike County, AL. He was 61. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Samuel Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield MBC Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday at Harrison Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.. Mr. Merritt was born August 28, 1954 in Pike County, AL to the late Lamon Merritt and Bertha Lovejoy Merritt. He attended Stringer High School in Goshen, AL. He was employed at Whaley Construction. His hobbies included horseback riding, fishing and enjoying family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Antonio Hollinghead, Dawon Merritt, Micheal Stirkens, Randall Merritt, Whitmon Merritt, OJ Terry, Travis Johnson, and Bobby Streeter. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamon Merritt Jr., James L. Merritt, Willie Brantley, and Anthony Merritt Jones. Floralbearers will be nieces and great nieces.
