Mary Lizzie Connor, age 94, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015, at Limestone Health Facility in Athens, AL. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 23, 2015, from 1-2:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Weed officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with her grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Connor was a lifelong resident of Troy until her move to Athens in 2006. She was born Sept 30, 1920, to Isaac Dennis and Vicki Lee Starling McLendon, as one of 12 children. She married George Welton Connor on May 27, 1937. They were both active members of Troy’s Southside Baptist Church. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before his death in 2001. She is also preceded in death by an infant son, Joe Kenneth Connor, grandson Adam Connor, four brothers and six sisters. Left to cherish her memory are two sons and daughter-in-law, Charles Connor of Rogersville, AL, and Louis and Suzan Connor of Rogersville, AL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and George J. Peffer of Fort Mill, SC, and Martha and Roderick B. Custer of Rogersville, AL; one sister, Mable Golemon of Mobile, AL; five grandsons, Jason Connor of Dayton, OH, Jared and Julie Connor of Huntsville, AL,

Nick and Aletta Connor of Salt Lake City, UT, Patrick Connor of San Francisco, CA, and Bain and Cammy Custer of Pensacola, FL; five great-grandchildren, Chelby, Tripp and Logan Custer of Pensacola, FL, and Mikah and Logan Connor of Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
