District 3 cleaning up for early fall

August is District 3 clean up month, and Troy City Councilman Marcus Paramore said this is a good time for residents to do some “late summer, early fall cleaning.”

“This is a good opportunity for resident in District 3 to do some late summer, early fall special clean ups around their homes,” Paramore said. “It’s also a good opportunity to have some the larger items they’re needing to get rid of picked up for free.”

While Troy University is not in Paramore’s district, several apartment complexes are, and he encourages students moving in and out for the start of the university’s fall semester to take advantage of the free pick up service.

“Willow Terrace is in my district, and there are quite a few students in there,” Paramore said. “Easy Street on George Wallace Drive is also in my district.”

Paramore said the clean up is a great opportunity for students to get rid of larger and smaller items needing to be picked up, including empty cardboard boxes.

“August is also a wonderful opportunity for those students moving in to get excess items like boxes or things that nature out of their homes just to go ahead and have them picked up for no extra charge to them,” Paramore said.

Anyone with items needing to be picked up is encouraged to call Vaughn Daniels, director of environmental services with the City of Troy, at 566-1133 Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. to schedule a pick up time.

Residents can also dial 311 on their cellphones and receive direct assistance.
