Barry H. Brantley, age 68, of Troy passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Michael Alsup and Reverend Marlon Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carolyn A. Brantley, Brother, Terry E. Brantley (Karen) of Montgomery, brothers in law, Kenneth Andress (Dawn) and Kerry Andress of Troy and Charlie Dicey of Dothan. Also several nieces and nephews both by blood and by love and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Tack” Brantley and Frances Hickman Brantley and a sister Barbara Brantley Dicey.

Mr Brantley taught school in the Pike County School system for 25 years, teaching at both Pike County and Goshen Elementary schools. He was affectionately known by his students as “Mr. B” Mr. Brantley loved to hunt and fish and he generously shared his bounty with many others. He also loved to grill and share ribs and Boston butts which he cooked using his “special” recipe.

He was a long time member of Bush Memorial Baptist Church where he served his Lord in many ways from fixing coffee every Sunday for his Sunday school class to helping with both Camp Troy Bible School every summer and the churches food distribution ministry.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Mark Avant, Adam Avant, Awbrey Barker, Justin Barker, Jimmy Copeland and Aaron Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Grissett, Gene Threadgill, Ron Johnson, Jamey Johnson and members of his Sunday school class.
