Montgomery man arrested in Troy for multiple charges

A Montgomery man was arrested in Troy Friday night while driving a stolen vehicle.

Kurtis Thomas, 18, of Montgomery, was charged with unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle; theft of property second degree; and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, with a total bond of $12,500.

“The officer stopped him at Walt’s Gym on Montgomery Street,” said Lt. Bryan Weed, public information officer with the Troy Police Department. “It was discovered that the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen on the 4th in Montgomery at Alabama State University. After he was taken to the station, they obtained the warrants.”

Officers obtained a stolen firearm from the vehicle, leading to theft of property second degree charge. Alabama State University has also charged Thomas with theft of property first degree, according to Weed.
