Two men remained hospitalized Monday after an early Saturday morning wreck on U.S. 231 in Pike County.
The crash happened around 12:35 a.m. Saturday, when a 2006 Mercedes driven by Bobby Glenn Smith, 52, of Troy, collided with a 2006 Chevrolet truck parked on the right-hand shoulder of the southbound lane U.S. 231 near the BBQ House.
“The truck had pulled to the side, with emergency flashers on and the passengers standing outside, after the left front tire had been shirred,” said Trooper Kevin Cook of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Bernardino S. Martinez, 34, of Arkansas, was among those standing outside the truck at the time of the crash. “He suffered a broken leg,” Cook said.
The incident remains under investigation by the ALEA and no further details were available.
