Fifth Saturday brings fun, food, fellowship

Troy is always bustling with community events, and this weekend is no different. It’s rare to have a fifth Saturday in a month, so Troy is taking advantage of it.

There will be food, music and fun at the fifth Saturday event on the Square, and what better way to spend a few hours on a Saturday than with friends and family?

After the work week, most of us are trying to find ways to be outside while spending time with the ones we love. This is the perfect event. It’s also a great way to get out and meet some new people in the community.

Anyone who moves to or visits Troy quickly finds out how close-knit Troy is as a community. Troy is really just a big family, and events like TroyFest, Brown Bag on the Square and now the fifth Saturday event, really bring everyone together to bond and grow as a family and a community.

It’s also a good excuse to go visit a restaurant that you’ve been meaning to visit or relieve some stress from the work week with some retail therapy. Merchants may even be having sales to go along with the event, so it’s definitely something that needs to be taken advantage of. Who doesn’t want some new summer outfits?

But something that always makes for a good time is hearing people play music. We have some great local talent in Troy, but this event can showcase some musicians that may not have a voice just yet. It will be exciting to see who takes the stage, or the gazebo, to belt out their hidden talents.

So join the City of Troy and the Chamber of Commerce for a night of food, fun and fellowship at the fifth Saturday event tomorrow night from 3 to 7 p.m. on the Square in Downtown Troy. The more people for the Troy family that come, the better the event will be! Let’s make this event one to remember.
