Weed said the department had been waiting on results from evidence that was sent out for processing and after receiving the results, warrant were gotten for Longmire’s arrest.

“We got the results of some evidence that was sent out for processing, which gave us the probable cause to get those warrants on him,” Weed said.

Officers responded to a residence on Jane Road off of AL Highway 87 back in December on a burglary call, Weed said.

“We responded out to Jane Road back in December on a burglary call where a female had woken up with a male in her apartment,” Weed said. “The two got into a struggle and the male subject fled the apartment. We sent out our crime scene detective and he processed the scene and collected what evidence that we could recover.”

Longmire was charged with attempted rape first degree and burglary third degree with bonds of $10,000 per charge, Weed said.

Longmire was being held at the Pike County Jail following his arrest Tuesday, but made bond shortly after at 6:40 p.m.
