Goshen to host camp

The Goshen High School baseball team will be hosting a one-day baseball camp for ages 7-14 on June 10.

Head coach Robby Kinsaul said the camp would be broken into two different sessions, a 9 a.m. session and a 1 p.m. session.

“The first session will be more of a position-player type camp,” Kinsaul said. “We will be working on hitting drills, fielding drills and base running drills. We will take a lunch break from 12 p.m. to probably around 1 p.m.”

Kinsaul said the team would have food prepared for the students to eat that day, and following lunch the camp would move into pitching drills.

“The second session will go from 1 p.m. to 3:30 or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. depending on the lunch break,” Kinsaul said. “The second session will be more focused on pitching drills, and that will be the main priority of that session.”

The camp is open to anyone wanting to participate, and Kinsaul said he hoped everyone coming to the camp would take the opportunity to participate in both sessions.

“I really do hope that everyone is interested in participating in both,” Kinsaul said. “They’ll get a lot out of it. If someone just wants to do one, that’s fine, but, hopefully, everyone will want to participate in both.”

For athletes choosing to participate in just one session of the camp the fee is $25, but to participate in both the afternoon and morning session the fee is $40.

“We tried to keep it relatively cheap so people could participate, and I think it’s pretty feasible,” Kinsaul said. “We’ll have a lunch for them, and we’re going to get a lot of work in on the field. I think it’ll be a great day for all of us and those who participate.”

Kinsaul said money raised from the project will benefit the baseball program, either for equipment or for the field renovation fund.

There is no registration deadline for the camp, and registration the day of camp will begin at 7:30 a.m.
