Charles Henderson High Head Coach Derek Irons knew there was no quit in Rehobeth, and his Trojans needed every hit, every run and every pitcher to get out of Hogan’s Hole with two wins Friday by scores of 6-5 and 19-14 in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Win the two victories, CHHS improves to 35-2 and will advance to the quarter-finals next Friday in Mobile when they take on a consistent 5A powerhouse in St. Paul Episcopal School. The Saints, 37-2 on the year, defeated Faith Academy by scores of 10-3 and 13-2 Friday.

Irons was pleased with getting two wins against Rehobeth, a team he knew was going to fight to the end.

“When we played them (Rehobeth ) in the area, I was so impressed with how they swung the bats, with their effort,” said Irons. “They never quit. Last week in the first round playoff games they were down 5-0 and 4-0. Today we were up 5-0 and 8-0. I can not say enough about the way they compete and play. We had a harder time getting those guys out than anyone we have faced all year. I can’t say enough about how much respect I have for their team and their coaches, and the way they play.
