Grady Homer Reeves, age 90, of Troy, passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2015. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Troy with Rev. Steve Winton and Rev. David McVay officiating. Burial will follow In the Sandfield Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 5:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Green Hills Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Michael Dunn, Chuck Dunn, Larry Dunn, Quin Renfroe, Jack Mills and Benny Scarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wesley-McCartha Men’s Sunday School Class of First Methodist Church and current and former employees of the City of Troy’s Utility Department. The Reeves family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Eric Law and his staff, and the team of caregivers with Hospice Advantage, and home attendants for their attentive, loving care. Mr. Reeves was a longtime resident of Troy and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of service during WWII in the United States Navy and was a longtime Director of the City of Troy Utilities Department. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents, Grady L. and Rebecca M. Reeves; sister, Margene R. Phillips; and brother, George Reeves. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Sally Dunn Reeves; sister, Dot Reeves Pinkerton of Pensacola, FL; sister-in-law, Loise Reeves of Troy; son, Grady A. (Vickie) Reeves of Troy; grandchildren, Jason (Elly) Reeves of Troy, John (Virginia) Reeves of Montgomery, and Amy (Will) Drinkard of Troy; great grandchildren, Will, Drew, Ben, and Kate Reeves, and Mary Hollis Drinkard; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the Sandfield Cemetery Trust Fund in care of Troy Bank & Trust or the First United Methodist Church of Troy.
