Ed J. Davis, Jr., age 88, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born in Pace, FL, on February 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Ed J. Davis, Sr. and the late Gladys C. McBride Davis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Kaesewurm Davis.

Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Dianne Davis Taylor of Corsina, TX; two brothers, John T. Davis of Sumter and Buford Edwin Davis of Milton, FL; a sister, Geneva Ann Davis Jordan of Milton, FL; and many other relatives and grandchildren.

Brother Ed was a World War II US Army veteran, having served in the infantry, the Army Air Corps, and later retired from the US Air Force. He was a member of many veteran and fraternal organizations. He also served on the church and cemetery boards of Beulah Primitive Baptist Church in Troy, AL.

Brother Davis was a Freemason and a member of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge #397, and a Past Master of Springhill Masonic Lodge #188. He was a Christian York Rite Mason, a Knight Templar, a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Knight of Pythias.

Brother Ed was a believing Christian in the forefront for peace and divine truth; a defender of the poor, the widow, the helpless orphan and the Christian religion. He will be dearly missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. Friday, April 10, 2015, at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church in Troy, AL. Burial will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the William Davis Cemetery on Burnt Out Bridge Rd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Primitive Baptist Church, 523 South Three North St., Troy, AL 36801.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
