Terica Taylor continues to cook, despite being in an accident. Now, she keeps her passion alive by cooking for Jesus Christ Church of Christ Bible Way.

Terica Taylor is set to continue her passion for food and cooking despite the obstacle in her way.

Taylor used to work at Tzzz’s Chicken and Barbecue in Brundidge. However, she could not keep working after an accident. Her return to cooking was thanks to the help of the Easter Seals.

“At first I wanted to rent out trailer homes to provide houses for homeless people, but the plan didn’t work out,” Taylor said. “The Easter Seals were helping me to get off disability benefits and to get back on my feet, and they brought cooking to my attention.”

Taylor said people in the community had known about her cooking before, and it was something she very much enjoyed to do.

“I love cooking,” she said. “I love decorating, designing the meal. I enjoy especially making gourmet food.

“After the accident, the Lord lead me to Jesus Christ Church of Christ Bible Way and I have been cooking for the church ever since.”

Taylor said she had been going to the church for five years. She started cooking for the whole church on Sundays, and later on she became the pastor’s personal cook.

Taylor said the church and the Presiding Bishop have significant meaning to her.

“I am honored to serve the church,” she said. “Serving the church and the pastor that way I feel like I am serving God.

“I hated the way it went with the accident, but things happen in a mysterious way. God has turned things around for my good.”

Taylor said it does not take too much time for her to prepare a meal. However, she puts in extra efforts on special occasions.

“(In those cases) I take my time with it,” she said. “As I cook, I pray the Lord for Him to put his special seasoning in it … Each meal helps me connect with Jesus Christ.”

Taylor said her favorite meals to cook is pepper steak and shrimp dinner.

“I love it when people are thrilled about my cooking,” she said.

Taylor’s daughter, Shameca Baker, made deserts and cakes for the church. It seemed like the love for food run in the family, she said.
