Brundidge PD investigates weekend hit and run

A hit and run accident on U.S. Highway 231 in Brundidge Saturday night remains under investigation by the Brundidge Police Department.

Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said the accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. on the southbound lane of Highway 231 across from the BP Station.

“Mrs. Rue Botts of Brundidge was driving in the southbound lane of Highway 231 and said a car come flying out of the BP Station and just kept coming right into her car, ” Davenport said. “The car came across the northbound lane and hit the rear of Mrs. Botts’ car, a Hyundai Sonata, and spun it around. It flipped over at least two times and ended up facing north in the northbound lane.”

Botts was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags of her car deployed.

Davenport said the driver of the Hyundai continued south on Highway 231 without stopping.

“We recovered the bumper of the car involved in the hit and run and an emblem,” he said.

“The car has been identified as a Honda and possibly a Honda Accord. A truck driver saw the accident and stopped to aid the victim of the accident.”

Davenport said the truck driver provided some information and other information is being gathered from the BP Station.

Botts is being treated for injuries sustained in the accident at a Montgomery hospital.
