On the evening of Thursday, January 22, 2015, Sara Head Atwell departed this life to enjoy the indescribable beauty and joys of heaven and to be reunited with friends and loved ones. She was a native of Shellhorn, Alabama; however, she had resided in Louisville, Alabama since 1965. Mrs. Atwell was a member of the Louisville Baptist Church, Louisville, Alabama. Her wish for all was that they so live that when you depart this life, you too can leave with the assurance of a reunion in heaven. Also, to leave a path of good works, that others’ lives and the community are better for having known and shared life.

Mrs. Atwell is survived by one son, Delyn Atwell and wife Linda, Dothan, AL; two daughters, Dorinda Halsell and husband Harold, Panama City Beach, FL and Donna Gilliam and husband Robert, Troy, AL; six grandsons and one granddaughter; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be grave side only at Antioch Cemetery, Antioch Church of Christ, Shellhorn, AL at 2:00 P.M. on January 24, 2015 with Reverend Michael Alsup officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
