Portemont to appear on Golf Chanel

Former Troy University golfer Zach Portemont has been selected to be a contestant on the upcoming season of the television show “Big Break” on the Golf Channel.

As part of the show, Portemont will compete against 11 other golfers for $120,000 worth of cash and prizes and an automatic berth in the 2015 Barbasol Championship at the RTJ Trail-Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.

“Big Break” is filmed in Palm Beaches, Fla., and this season will feature one of the most diverse casts in series history.

Among the competitors are several collegiate All-Americans and an Iraq War veteran who is attempting to be the first amputee golfer to compete on the PGA Tour.

Portemont played for Troy from 2008-2011 and was a four-year letterwinner for the Trojans. After graduation, he turned pro.

The season premier is set for Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. on Golf Channel.
