Hilliard Thomas Rush, 79 years of age went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 15, 2015 with his loving wife, Pat by his side. He was born on August 14, 1935 to Craig and Mary Francis Rush near Plantersville, AL.

Daddy loved his family and determined every day to keep us close. He loved his porch and having family and friends visit. Nothing brought him more pleasure than sharing old family stories, talking about the Bible or giving us his opinion on fishing or Alabama football.

He loved his church family and looked forward to Sundays, Wednesday night services, or any other time the “doors were open.”

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann Rush, his daughter Teri Bruce and her husband Lewis of Gulf Shores, sons Thomas Rush and his wife Leigh of Natchitoches, LA and Jamie Rush and his wife Sissy of Daphne, seven grandchildren, Amanda Moss and husband Ryan, Craig Rush and wife Bethany, Emily Wilkerson and husband James, Abigail Bruce, Adriana Rush, Sommer Ward and Kayle Sapp. Ten great grandchildren: Ella Grace, Hayes, JW, Catherine, Georgia, Elliott, Eveyln, Everett, Brodie and Blaze. Hilliard also leaves behind his brother, Doc Rush and his wife Linda, his sister Mattie Davis and his sister Emily Dellinger and her husband Terry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Elkdale Baptist Church in Selma, AL with his Pastor Cory Horton officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be at Lawrence Funeral Home Sunday from 4-6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to the Building Fund of Elkdale Baptist Church 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma, AL 36701.
