Troy University senior offensive lineman Terrance Jones has been tapped to play in the Medal of Honor Bowl on Jan. 10 in Charleston, S.C., the university announced Saturday.

Jones was also named to the All-Sun Belt second team this season, while allowing zero sacks over the Trojans’ 12 games in 2014.

The Huntsville, Ala., native was a staple of the Troy offensive line, recording 44 starts throughout his time as a Trojan, including 42-straight starts to end his career.

In 2014, Jones finished with 16.5 knockdown blocks and led an offensive line that protected for quarterback Brandon Silvers as he set a new NCAA record for completion percentage for a freshman with 70.5 percent on the year.

Selections for the Medal of Honor Bowl will be split up into two teams — the American Team and National Team.

Jones will be a member of the American Team, joining other Sun Belt lineman Garrett Frye of Georgia Southern and Kendall Lamm of Appalachian State.

In all, the Sun Belt will boast five representatives on the American Team, with UL-Lafayette quarterback Terrance Broadway and Georgia Southern linebacker Edwin Jackson being selected to the game as well.

College Football Hall of Fame member and former South Carolina State head coach Willie Jeffries will lead the American Team, with Troy University Sports Hall of Fame inductee Chan Gailey coaching the National Team.

The game will be played at Johnson Hagood Stadium on the campus of The Citadel and is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., with the game being televised live by NBC Sports.
