A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Green’s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Southside Baptist Church and the members of the Men’s 3 Sunday school class. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Green and Velma Green Fowler; and brothers, Frank and David Green. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lou Emma Green; daughters, Susan Green Miller (Dave) and Gail Green Hamrick (Bill); grandchildren, Hayden Hamrick Sentenn (Andy), Christina Karst Camp (Tyler) and Hunter Hamrick; and sister, Frances King.  Mr. Green devoted 38 years to his work as a contract agent for Ft. Rucker. He was a man deeply rooted in his faith, actively serving and sharing in fellowship at Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Green lived to learn, always curious about the world’s wonders and excited for new life adventures. He was a self-taught artist passionate about acrylic painting and always seeking opportunities to hone his artistry skills; he also always enjoyed a good book to read. On his latest endeavor, Mr. Green began guitar lessons with legendary musician Lenny Trawick. He loved all things outdoors─ hunting, fishing, gardening, and he had a special affection for cattle. He was an active member of the Alabama Cattleman’s Association for nearly 30 years. And, he is fondly remembered for his love of Mrs. Lou Emma’s fruitcake, always served in honor of his birthday.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Green’s honor to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund (522 South Brundidge Street, Troy, Al 36081) or to the American Heart Association. Family and friends can sign the guestbook at greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Green family.
