Brundidge Police Department has arrested a Pike County man on charges of second-degree rape, stemming from an investigation that began in October.
According to Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport, Lamarcus Adair, 19, was arrested Friday, Nov. 7, is being charged with second-degree statutory rape as well as a misdemeanor charge of harassing communication.
The victim in the case is a 15-year-old girl, and Davenport said the Child Advocacy Center would be meeting with the juvenile Friday afternoon to gather more information about the case.
Investigator David Hiersche, the arresting officer for the case, said the police department was still actively investigating the case.
Hiersche said the department was still unsure of Adair’s formal residence, but said they were “gathering that he was from Troy.”
Because the case is still actively being investigated by Brundidge PD, Hiersche said he was unable to give out any further details concerning the case.
While the case was reported to Brundidge PD in late October, Adair was not arrested until Friday, Nov. 7, and Hiersche said the reasons for the extensive time lapse were also under investigation.
Adair’s bond was originally set for $30,000, but Adair was released Sunday, Nov. 9, following order from Brundidge Police Department.
