Terra Cotta will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its farmer’s market at 4 p.m. today and will also kickoff its special projects planned for the holiday season.
Helen Dunn, store manager, said everyone is invited to participate in the festivities, enjoy a hot cup of cider and cookies and learn more about Terra Cotta’s projects for the holiday season and how to be involved.
“We have food drives planned that will benefit the Pike County Salvation Army Service Center at Thanksgiving and we’ll have another at Christmastime,” Dunn said. “Through the Pike Regional Child Advocacy Center, Terra Cotta has adopted 10 children and will be a collection point for toys and clothing as gifts for them for Christmas. Those who participate in the Christmas project for the CAC will get 10 percent off their purchases at Terra Cotta. If an item is on sale, we’ll tack on the 10 percent as long as it’s not on sale for more than 40 percent.”
The CAC will provide wish lists for Terra Cotta’s adopted children and those who would like to help make Christmas special for these children may select gifts from the list.
Terra Cotta also has a heart for animals and is supporting Troy Animal Rescue during the holiday season.
“Terra Cotta will be a drop-off point for those who would like to make donations to Troy Animal Rescue,” Dunn said. “The donations may be monetary or from a list of suggested items including collars, leashes, dog food and treats. Customers who participate in the animal rescue project will receive 10 percent off their purchases. We will take two dollars off the purchase of a wine candle and that amount will also go to Troy Animal Rescue.”
The 10 percent incentive for customers to join Terra Cotta in making Christmas merry for children, families in need and rescued animals will continue through December 24.
Terra Cotta will also host a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Black Friday.
