Admission was free, but all spectators were asked to bring a canned food item to assist the Troy University Student Athletic Advisory Committee in its canned food drive for the Pike County Human Resource Center.

The players dressed in the costume of their choosing for the game.

In the end, Team Cardinal — position players — defeated Team Black — pitchers — 6-5.

Though the game was only scheduled to be five innings, the players decided to play nine.

Large quantities of canned goods were collected as a result of the game, the university said.
