A 27-year-old international student at Troy University was arrested early Sunday morning after a two-vehicle wreck on University Avenue.

“We got a call at about 2:30 a.m. … to the 100 block of University Avenue in reference to a two-vehicle accident with two injuries,” said Lt. Brian Weed, public information officer for the Troy Police Department.

Nyamsuran Lkhavakuren was arrested and was being held in Troy City Jail on a $1,000 bond, Weed said.

Lkhavakuren had two passengers in the vehicle with him at the time of the accident. Both sustained injuries from the accident. The driver was not injured, Weed said.

Weed said the incident offered a chance to remind drivers to drink responsibly and have a designated driver.

“Always make sure you have a designated driver and be responsibility when drinking alcohol,” Weed said. “You could make a mistake you’d regret the rest of your life.”

Weed is also asking for any information that could be related to the shooting that took place at Skyview Apartments on Park Street just before midnight Friday, Sept. 12.

“We would like to ask for public for their assistance,” Weed said. “To give information, please call 566-0500 or our secret witness line at 566-5555. Another number to call is Crime Stoppers at 215-stop.”
