The Charles Henderson volleyball team came up short against Carroll of Ozark on Tuesday, losing three of their four games.

“If we’d played the first two games like we played the second two, it would’ve been a different story,” said head coach Jennifer Sikes. “The girls are playing so much better than last year, and it’s so disappointing to them that they just keep coming up short.”

CHHS won the third game, 25-20 but fell in the others, 25-10, 25-20 and 25-19.

“These girls are really great athletes, and they have a strong team makeup,” Sikes said. “They just can’t hit on all cylinders every day …

“But like I told them tonight, if they just keep playing and working on it, they’re going to be ready for area.”

Salena Atkins scored four points, with six kills and two blocks. Ashla Elder led kills with seven and three blocks. Lindsey Fox and Addison Bryan both had two points. Bryan had two kills and Cassidy Oswald had one.

CHHS’ first area match is agains Eufaula on Sept. 25.
