Mrs. Joyce Renfroe Hamil, age 84, of Carrollton, GA passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Hamil was born in Birmingham, AL on November 29,1929, the daughter of the late JW Renfroe and Mary Walters Renfroe. Mrs. Hamil was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama. Following marriage and raising her four sons she taught kindergarten in the Carrollton City School System and Jackson Miss. Public School Systems.

Joyce, Mrs. Joyce, or Mawmaw lived her life with happiness and love. She cherished and loved her family, friends, Church, pets and community. She touched each person in a gentle and special way. She led by example.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, George (Bo) B. and Shirley Hamil, Jr. of Carrollton, W. Gregory and Jeanne Hamil of Thomasville, GA, Geoff C. and Debbie Hamil of Tallahassee, FL, Gary W. and Deanna Hamil of Carrollton; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Hamil, Chris Hamil, Tyler Hamil, Michael Hamil, Eve Toomey, Lauren Hamil, William Hamil, Grant Hamil, Parker Hamil, Blake Hamil, Connor Hamil, Natalie Hamil; one great grandchild, Isla Hamil; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and William Allbritton of Saskatoon, Canada; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.W. Jake and Lillian Renfroe of Pensacola, FL, Gene and Janna Renfroe of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law, Lee Lamar of Auburn, AL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Hamil, Sr.; sister, Gail Lamar; brother, Frank Renfroe; and stepmother, Sarah Margaret Renfroe.

The family will receive friends Friday at the Carrollton Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall from 12 noon until 2 p.m.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 15 at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jan Tolbert officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton Presbyterian Church, 14 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30117, Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, 3525 Piedmont Rd, Building 5, Suite 215, Atlanta, GA 30305.

Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
