The Troy Arts Council got off to a fast start with its annual Patrons Drive Thursday at the City of Troy Tourism Office.

The drive opened at 10 a.m. and Elaine Blair, Patrons chair, said patrons flooded in early and continued to drift in throughout the day.

“The TAC patrons’ tickets are the best tickets in town,” Blair said. “There’s nowhere else that you can get better entertainment and a better deal for your money.

“Patrons’ season tickets begin with one ticket at the $75 supporter level and go up to six tickets at the $401 level. Student season tickets are $25 each. Not only do season ticket holders get a great value on six calendar events, including the Vienna Boys Choir, they also get reserved seating.”

The season opens with the Vivace Music Group on Sept. 16. Sally Mayes Broadway Babe will be the calendar event in October, followed by the Harlem String Quartet in November, Shelia Jackson & Company in December, the Texas Guitar Quartet in February and the Vienna Boys Choir in March. The TAC 2014-2015 season calendar closes on May 4 with the Southeast Alabama Community Band Concert, which is free to the public.

Blair said the TAC 2014-2015 Season Calendar supports the Council’s mission to aid, encourage, advise and coordinate activities that promote the cultural arts through music, dance and theater in Troy and Pike County and to integrate these activities into the total life of the area.

“The TAC continues to emphasize the performing arts in our schools with art performances and workshops,” Blair said. “The TAC provides funds for supplies for music and drama teachers in Troy and Pike County schools.”

The TAC also awards the annual Jean Lake Scholarship to a high school senior art student.

Blair said Patron support assists in bringing quality cultural arts entertainment to Troy and also supports the Council’s efforts to further the other cultural arts endeavors.

All TAC season calendar events are open to the public. Tickets at the door for each event are $20 for adults and $5 for students with an ID.

Patron season tickets are available by calling 334-566-0834. Special gifts and donations made in memory or in honor of a loved one may be mailed to Troy Arts Council, P.O. Drawer 606, Troy, AL 36081-0606. Printed gift cards are available.
