U.S. 29 lots rezoned for business

The Troy City Planning Commission approved a rezoning request at their monthly meeting Thursday night.

The rezoning request was to rezone 5.5 acres located on the south side of US Hwy 29 South in the area of Green Drive from R1: Low Density Residential Zoning District to C2: General Commercial Zoning District. The properties include locations at 575 and 608 Hwy 29 South.

The properties are owned by Green Land Company, Inc. and TFI LLC.

The buildings on the properties were built in 1960 and 1978, before the zoning map was redrawn in 1986.

“The rezoning seems to have not come to light with the owners until this year,” Melissa Sanders said.

Scott Gardner, who represented TFL LLC the audience at the meeting, said he is happy about the approval and that the property involved included a small warehouse with a fenced in area.

The approval of the request means that it is approved to be recommended to the Troy City Council. The request must first be publicly advertised twice before a public hearing can be held.

The Troy City Planning Commission meets monthly on every fourth Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall.
