Staying competitive is what the Troy Farm League Nationals are hoping to do going into their first game. The young all-stars are going over their fundamentals at each practice.

“We are hoping to be ready for action next week at District,” head coach David Bradford said. He said stressing the basics of the game would help in their first game.

“The first week or two of practice is getting to know each other. Players learning about the coaches and coaches learning about the players,” he said. The young team is progressing very well with short amount of practices they have had Bradford said.

“The process of getting repetition down to get better each day is a challenge,” he said. He tells his team each day before practice that this practice should be better than yesterday’s practice. Also, after practice that they should feel better than the day before.

Bradford wants his all-stars to learn that everything is not given to them and that they have to earn it. He said you have to work for what you want to gain.

“This is a good time for all the kids that are fortune enough to make the all-star team because they pick up a lot of experience,” assistant coach, Adam Brookins said. He said they learn a lot more during this time of the year than the regular season. They are all progressing each practice he said.

Brookins hopes to win district and that the kids take with them to be good teammates. He said that they learn about how to play the game the way it is supposed to be played the correct way.

Coaches for the Farm Leage Nationals are David Bradford, Adam Brookins, Bobby Hussey and Dax Pugh. K.C. Bradford and Owen Pugh are the team managers.

The Nationals will take to the diamond on June 20 at 7:30 p.m. They will play against the Eufaula Americans in Zion Chapel.
