Each summer a variety of camps is offered for young people – baseball and softball camps, dance camps, drama camps, gymnastic camps, every kind of camp imaginable. But not often is there a camp that offers youngsters the opportunity to explore land, sea and sky. However, studio 116 in downtown Brundidge is offering that opportunity through three Art Camps in June.
The Art Camps are designed for ages five through 12 and will explore the worlds of land, sea and sky through different art projects. “Each week we will explore a different ‘world’ thorough a variety of art projects that include painting, sculpture and more,” said Sara Dismukes, co-director of studio 116 and Troy University art instructor. “Each week will be a new and exciting theme. “The week of June 9-13, we’ll explore land and the art activities will be related to plants, animals and insects.”
The week of June 16-20 the theme of the Art Camp will be the sea. Art projects will be related to the ocean and the beaches and the many wonderful and exciting things to be seen there, Dismukes said.
The third week, June 23-27, the sky will be the limit for the Art Camp.
Two sessions are planned for each week of Art Camp. Ages five through nine will camp from 10 a.m. until noon and ages eight through 12 will camp from 2 until 4 p.m.
The classes will meet Monday through Thursday with a gallery reception for family and friends on Friday afternoons at 4:30 p.m. For more information about fees or to register for the Art Camps, call 334-268-4436 or email studio116brundidge@gmail.com.
Registration may also be made at studio 116 on South Main Street in Brundidge during gallery hours, from noon until 5 p.m. on Fridays and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturdays.  New inventory is added to the gallery weekly.
