The Chamber committee will host its second annual BDC breakfast at 7:30 a.m. today at Troy Country Club with Bob Forbes, senior vice president of John Hancock Life Insurance Company, as the guest speaker.
“The purpose of the Business Development Committee breakfast is to give our Pike County businesses an opportunity to hear an outstanding speaker on issues that affect businesses and to network over breakfast,” said Grant Lyons, chairman of the BDC and Pike County Extension coordinator.
“We will also recognize 30 tenured and new businesses. Among the businesses recognized will be five new businesses and 14 business that have been doing business in Pike County for 50 years.”
Lyons said the annual Business Development breakfast is an opportunity to show appreciation to local businesses and recognize them for the significant role they play in the economic well being of Pike County.
“The Business Development Committee is in business for business,” he said. “We meet monthly to discuss issues relevant to business in Pike County, and we share ideas and strategy about how we can help businesses prosper in Pike County.”
Lyons said the mission of the Chamber’s BDC is to identify needs and concerns of business, to bring increased knowledge of services through education and to provide access to quality information that will be beneficial and help create positive growth in the various business sectors of Pike County.
