Five members of the 2013 AHSAA 4A Runner-Up Charles Henderson Trojans signed college scholarships Tuesday morning.

Mykel Alloway, Jermaine Parker and Quay Mays signed with Faulkner University in Montgomery. Josh Noel inked with Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky, and Kenyatta Jones will suit up for Sacramento City College in California.

Alloway played on the offensive line during his career and helped pave the way for three different 1,000-yard rushers.

During his senior season, Alloway graded out at 81 percent and racked up 65 knockdown blocks.

He said he was excited to get the phone call from Faulkner coach Brent Barker.

“It is a blessing to have a choice period,” Alloway said. “I didn’t have too many offers, but once they called my mind was settled. It is great school that is close to home. I can still see my mom when I need to, and she can come watch me play every time. It is a win-win situation for everybody.”

Alloway began playing football as a youngster, and dreamed of having the opportunity to play collegiately.

“It was always a dream,” Alloway said. “I just had to work hard to make it a reality. I am just so blessed to have this chance. Hard work pays off, As long as you have God, you can’t lose.”

Noel was Charles Henderson’s go-to target over the past three seasons.

He finished his career as the all-time leader in receiving yards for the Trojans, and notched 54 catches for 673 yards and 12 touchdowns during his senior campaign.

Noel said his mind was made up after he took his visit to Lindsey Wilson earlier this year.

“When I took my visit it just felt like home away from home,” Noel said. “It is nice to kind of branch out and get out of Alabama to see what I can do. It is a great feeling to go somewhere that feels like home.”

Lindsey Wilson College is located in Columbia, Kentucky, a long way from Noel’s actual home. He said he is ready for the change.

“It is going to be some cold winters with snow and ice,” Noel said. “I have my jacket ready.”

Quay Mays was unavailable for comment, and Jones and Parker elected to not take part in the signing ceremony.
