The Charles Henderson High School Alumni Band is holding its annual 3rd Annual Alumni Reunion Dinner at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the school’s cafetorium. The alumni dinner is open to all alumni, spouses and supporters.
The featured speakers for the alumni band reunion are Dr. John M. Long, director of bands emeritus at Troy University, and Ralph and Amanda Ford. Ralph Ford is a composer, arranger and author with more than 250 titles available worldwide for orchestra, concert band, jazz ensemble and marching band. Ford is a retired director of bands at Troy University. Amanda Ford is the band director at CHMS. She has been active for many years as a clinician and adjudicator.
Pete Jordan, Alumni Band member, said the reunion dinner is an excellent time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
“The CHHS Alumni Band Reunion Dinner is also a time to help build the history of the band by sharing old photos and other memorabilia,” Jordan said.
“We need photos for the slide show we present at alumni dinners. So we encourage alumni to bring photocopies to leave with the Alumni Band. At the dinner, we will discuss our next CHHS Homecoming Alumni Band and we will also accept membership dues which are $10 annually.”
The CHHS Jazz band will perform at the alumni band dinner.
