PD nabs Piggly Wiggly thieves

Troy Police Department’s appeal to the public paid off when investigators received a tip identifying two people wanted for shoplifting.
Police issued surveillance footage of two people stealing merchandise from the Piggly Wiggly located on U.S. Highway 231 South in Troy. Storeowners said the pair had been seen stealing from the store on two separate occasions, April 9 and April 24. The merchandise was valued at than $200, making the crime theft of property in the third degree.
According to information released by Chief Jimmy Ennis, the tip came from Central Alabama Crime Stoppers and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office. Ennis thanked the public for helping to identify the suspects.
Troy PD arrested 23-year-old Cierra Nicole Turner of New Brockton and 34-year-old Leandra Flowers of Elba Wednesday and charged each with two counts of theft of property third degree.
“The two suspects were arrested after warrants were signed by the victim,” said Lt. Bryan Weed in a media release.
Weed said the suspects had most likely stolen from other area businesses and would have continued to do so if not apprehended,
Coffee County deputies arrested Turner and Flowers and turned them over to Troy PD. They are being held in Troy City Jail, each on a $1,000 bond.
