Troy Regional Medical Center is in the middle of a celebration.
As part of National Nurse Appreciation Week, about 140 nurses, nurse aids, nurse practitioners and case managers were recognized for the work they do.
Head Nurse Amy Minor said the week included donut deliveries, goody bags and message boards filled with photos and thank-you notes.
“It’s an opportunity to just bring attention to them and recognize what they do every day,” she said. “They’re highly skilled, compassionate and dedicated … I couldn’t do my job without them.”
The medical center employs nurses in several areas. The staff works in medical/surgical units, intensive care, the emergency room, the operating room, same-day surgery, home health and physicians’ offices throughout the TRMC campus.
The staff boasts several nurses with more than 30 years of experience.
Recognition will not end Friday. The fun continues next week. As part of the National Hospital Appreciation week, nurses will receive a special gift at the employee cookout. This year’s gift is a secret, but the tradition has included mugs, totes and lunch bags in previous years.
Minor said her staff deserves the tokens of appreciation and much more.
“Troy Regional Medical Center’s mission statement is to provide exceptional care in a compassionate environment,” Minor said. “And I feel like our nursing staff does just that.”
