Tonight hundreds of Pike County residents will celebrate Relay for Life, a show of solidarity with more than 4 million people in over 20 countries who raise much-needed funds and awareness to saves lives from cancer.
Here at our Sportsplex in Troy, dozens of teams will gather to celebrate survivors, to honor the memory of those who lost their battle with cancer, and to walk a lap –or 40 – to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society with its research, education and outreach efforts.
Joining in the event will be dozens of friends and neighbors who are fighting their own battles with the disease: Living testaments to strength and faith who put a face to the word “cancer.”
We hope you’ll be there tonight, lending support and rallying with us.
Take some time to speak to a survivor. Or purchase a luminary in honor of someone who has battled cancer Stand and listen as the solemn litany is read during the memorial walk, hundreds of names of the men and women whose lives have been touched by cancer.
And, more than anything, we hope you’ll make a financial contribution, if you’re able, to support the fight against cancer.
Tonight we join together to Relay for Life, for hope and for a cure against cancer.
