The Troy Police Department charged a Brundidge man with prostitution after the man propositioned a woman in the parking lot of a local shopping center.
Shelby Lee Green, 48, left a note on the woman’s vehicle, offering to pay her $150 to engage in a sexual act, according to Lt. Bryan Weed of the Troy Police Department.
“During the incident, a note had been left on the victim’s car that was very explicit in nature and had a means to contact the suspect,” he said.
The woman filed a report with the Troy Police Department last Thursday. By Friday, Green was in custody.
Weed said he wanted to remind people to report incidents like this immediately. The victim waited two weeks to report what happened.
“Anytime you get something that’s unwanted or uncalled for, threatening or anything that you perceive to be a threat, you should report it,” he said.
The note included contact information that the police used to find Green.
“Troy Police Department Detectives were able to use the information provided by the victim and the note, to make the arrest of Green on Friday, March 28, in the same parking lot of the original incident,” Weed said.
Green was transported to the Troy City Jail and was held on $500 bond.
The case is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department. Anyone with information pertaining to the case should call the Troy PD at 566-0500.
