Joseph Eve Harbuck, Jr., age 87, a resident of Daphne, Alabama, and a former resident of Brundidge, Alabama, for 31 years, stepped into eternity on March 15, 2014. Mr. Harbuck was born on October 28, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, to Maude Ethel Childress Harbuck and Joseph Eve Harbuck, Sr. Mr. Harbuck served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harbuck was a 1954 graduate of The University of Alabama where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Ann Marley Harbuck of Daphne, Alabama, his daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer H. and David L. Keller of Lakeland, Florida, Marley H. and Patrick L. Burns of Cudjoe Key, Florida, his son, Jeffrey J. Harbuck of Fairhope, Alabama, his grandchildren Sarah E. Keller of Lakeland, Florida, Joshua D. Keller of Ruckersville, Virginia, Stephanie K. Cousin and her husband, Bryan A. Cousin of Lakeland, Florida, William P. Burns and Alec W. Burns of Lawrenceville, Georgia, his great granddaughter, Alexandria L. Cousin of Lakeland, Florida, his sister, Doris E. Lynch of South Nyack, New York, his brother and sister-in-law, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert L. and Joan F. Harbuck of Scottsdale, Arizona, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. David E. and Sarah S. Marley of Savannah, Georgia, his nieces and nephews, Donna L. and husband Steven V. Ward of Tarrytown, New York, Donald D.W. Lynch, Jr. and wife Jennifer D. Lynch of Valley Cottage, New York, Doris E. and husband Craig J. Jensen of Albany, New York, Patricia M. and husband Brian C. Oates of Seattle, Washington, Christy M. and husband Albert C. Rodibaugh, IV of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Dr. Robert L. and wife Dr. Elizabeth Harbuck of Felton, California, Sharon H. and husband James C. Leonard of Anchorage, Alaska, Charles F. and wife Martha B. Harbuck of Highland Village, Texas, Richard Harbuck of Palmer, Alaska, great-nieces and nephews Danika E. Jensen and Devin L. Jensen of Albany, New York, Shane M. Lynch and Joseph A. Lynch of Valley Cottage, New York, Samantha E. Rodibaugh of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and cousins Betty Jo F. and husband James C. Powell, III of Summerdale, Alabama, Cynthia L. and husband Calvin Powell of Jensen Beach, Florida, Cecelia L. and husband Johnathon P. Kross of Boca Raton, Florida and Carol L. McClure of Largo, Florida.
The visitation and memorial service for Mr. Harbuck will be held at The Brundidge United Methodist Church located at 140 North Main Street in Brundidge, Alabama, on Thursday, March 20, 2014, with Reverend Ed Shirley of the Brundidge United Methodist Church and Rev. Mike McKnight of the Fairhope Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Jo Anne Dickert will serve as the pianist. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and the memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by internment at Lakeview Cemetery with Thrash-Keahy Funeral home officiating. Pall Bearers will be David L. Keller, Patrick L. Burns, Bryan A. Cousin, James C. Powell, III, Mike Wilson, and Joey Strother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be give to the Wounded Warrior Fund or The Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery Endowment Fund.
The Harbuck family expresses their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Marvin F. Lester and the staff of The Mobile Infirmary, the Staff of Gentiva Home Health Care and Dr. Barry Booth for their compassionate dedication to Mr. Harbuck during his last days.
