GOSHEN — The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the store burglary that happened early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Sheriff Russell Thomas said the burglars entered Rodger’s Grocery, located on 514 Greenville Avenue, via a window that had been covered with plywood.
“Around on the right, toward the back of the store, a large four-door cooler sits in the store and backs up to the window,” Thomas said. “The suspects broke about half of the plywood, broke the glass and pushed it over and someone was able to enter the store and unlock the front door.”
The burglars stole merchandise worth hundreds of dollars. Items included beer, cigarettes, cigars and Copenhagen chewing tobacco. A television also was taken.
“Before they left, they turned the gas pumps on and pumped $38 in gas,” added Thomas.
The sheriff’s office is offering a cash reward for any information that leads to an arrest. Call 566-4347 to provide a tip.
