Charles Henderson returned to the site of its 2013 state championship win Monday afternoon, and picked up a 6-1 win over Lovelace Academic Magnet Program in a makeup game in the Jason Armstrong Memorial FCA Classic.

The Trojans jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the first inning. Hunter Baggett and John Johnson started the game with back-to-back singles.

Baggett stole home for the game’s first run, while Johnson and Chase Smartt were brought home on a pair of sacrifice flies.

Cole Wilson sacrificed himself to bring in Xavius Burden, and another Charles Henderson run, in the third.

Nick Lewis singled in Smartt in the sixth inning, and Smartt brought home Chase Hartley in the seventh for an insurance run.

Burden threw a complete game six-hitter for the Trojans. He struck out six, walked just one and allowed just the one earned run.

Charles Henderson returns to the diamond on Thursday with a double header against area foe Bullock County on Thursday before playing host to Opp and Muscle Shoals on Friday at Riddle-Pace Field on the Troy University campus.
