Grand jury issues no-bill

A grand jury has determined there was insufficient evidence to indict a man charged with two counts of attempted murder stemming from a May 2013 shooting.
Alvin Augustus Cannon, 24, was released from jail Thursday, after a grand jury returned a “no bill” verdict. A no-bill verdict means the case has been dropped.
Cannon was taken into custody on May 30, 2013, in connection with a shooting that happened on May 25. Officers responded to the 300 Block of Aster Avenue in Troy about 10 p.m. on May 25 and found that two people had been shot. The injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, although one suspect was transferred to Montgomery for treatment.
