The Troy United Women’s League celebrated the deeds of nine Pike County residents at the 26^th annual banquet Saturday night at Troy University’s Trojan Center.

This year’s honorees included Timothy Fayson, Ronnie Franklin, Rev. Kevin Griffin, Cleveland Harvis, Ola Mae Lampley, Rev. Major Lane, Ida Felton-Martin, Jerry Reynolds, Toney Stallworth and Cynthia Thomas.

Guest speaker Judge Rose Evans-Gordon encouraged people to work together and carry on the legacy of an ancestry full of survivors.

“It is no accident that we have survived, people. All we have to do is dream the impossible dream … reach, even when our arms feel too weary,” she said.
