Troy City Schools Superintendent Lee Hicks confirmed today that former Florence High School head coach Jamey Dubose would be his recommendation for the vacant head football coach position at Charles Henderson High School.
“He is going to be the recommendation,” said Hicks Thursday afternoon, adding that no hire has yet been made. “That recommendation must go before the board.”
The Troy City Schools Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 5:15 p.m. today to consider the personnel action.
Dubose, who resigned his position at Florence Thursday morning, is 71-29 in nine years as head coach, including three trips to the Super Six and two state titles at Prattville from 2008-2011. Most recently, Dubose guided Florence to a 16-8 record over the last two seasons.
Dubose has been one of the more popular and talked about candidates since the position became available in December 2013 following the resignation of former CHHS head coach Mike Dean. Hicks is happy Dubose is in the mix.
“There have been rumors out there for a long time,” Hicks said. “We interviewed several candidates for the position.”
The board meets at 5:15 p.m. at the Troy City Schools Central Office on Elba Highway. The meeting is open to the public.
