ABC agents arrest Bullock Co. man for illegal moonshine

A Bullock County man has been arrested by Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents for possession and sale of illegal moonshine. Forty-eight year old William “Billy” May of Union Springs was taken into custody January 15, 2013, after he delivered 40-gallons of moonshine to an undercover ABC Agent. The arrest occurred on Alabama Highway 29, just north of Andalusia in Covington County. This was the second such sale to an undercover agent.
May is charged with two felony counts of transportation of prohibited liquor and beverages,two misdemeanor counts of selling prohibited liquor and beverages without a license, and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. May was being held in the Covington County jail on $223,000.00 bail. Transporting a prohibited liquor and beverage carries a bail of $100,000 on each charge. The bail for selling without a license is $10,000 for each charge. And, the bail for the marijuana possession charge is $3,000. After posting bond, May was released from jail on Friday, January 17.
The undercover operation began last October and was held in conjunction with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force.
