A Goshen man is out on bond two months after being charged with the murder and attempted murder of his sons.
Sammy D. Jackson, 44, was released on $100,000 and $50,000 bonds for the charges stemming from the Nov. 9 incident at his County Road 1143 home.
Jackson fatally shot his 18-year-old namesake with a 12-guage shotgun that Saturday morning. He then shot his 16-year-old as the boy escaped through an open window. The 16-year-old survived.
Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute between Jackson and his wife that started the previous night.
“There was a history of domestic problems, but you never dream that it comes to this,” Thomas said shortly after the shooting.
Jackson’s case may appear in court as early as Feb. 26, the date of the next grand jury. Pending the results of that grand jury, Jackson will be due back in court April 29 for an arraignment.
